About LGBTQ+ Salzburg
Austria decriminalised sex between men in 1971 and opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2019. Salzburg, better known for Mozart and Baroque architecture, packs a busy queer calendar into a small, walkable city.
HOSI Salzburg, the local Homosexual Initiative on Franz-Josef-Straße in the Andräviertel, offers community, counselling and advocacy, and throws the HOSI-Fest queer club night at ARGEkultur several times a year.

Zweistein, on the Giselakai by the Salzach, is a long-running gay and lesbian bar and café with a small dance floor, Mexxx on Schallmooser Hauptstraße stays open late every night, and the Dark Eagle on Paracelsusstraße is the men's bar for the leather and fetish crowd, with a cruising area downstairs.
Salzburg Pride runs from late August into early September, with the CSD parade setting off from the Hauptbahnhof on the final Saturday and the Pride HOSI-Fest that night.
