About LGBTQ+ Nürnberg
Germany repealed the last of Paragraph 175 in 1994 and opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2017. Nuremberg's community organised early: Fliederlich, now the city's queer centre by the Plärrer, was founded in autumn 1978, the same year the Paradies travesty theatre opened.
The scene is spread across the Altstadt and the Südstadt rather than packed into one street. In the old town, Là Bas on Hallplatz is a long-running bar with food and a summer beer garden, and Bar59 on Johannesgasse is a small cocktail bar with themed party nights. Die Rote Bar on Peter-Vischer-Straße has served the scene for more than 40 years with live music and a long drinks list.

South of the station on Bogenstraße, Savoy is one of the oldest scene bars, running for more than four decades, and on the same street Paradies is a travesty theatre with a resident drag ensemble. Achilleus on Färberstraße is the men's sauna, and Estragon on Jakobstraße is a Mediterranean restaurant run by the local AIDS-Hilfe.
CSD Nürnberg has grown from a street festival first held in 1998 into an early-August parade of well over 10,000 people, winding from Prinzregentenufer through the old town past the Hauptmarkt to Kornmarkt. Since 2013 it has included a memorial for victims of the Nazi regime at Magnus-Hirschfeld-Platz.
