About LGBTQ+ Stuttgart
Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Württemberg, historically one of the more conservative German states, and it hosts the largest Pride in the south of the country by a wide margin. The parade and the Pride culture weeks that lead up to it draw crowds well into six figures and finish on Schlossplatz, which is about as central and as grand as a German public square gets. A conservative state and a very large Pride in its capital is the tension worth understanding here, and the city has generally come down on the side of the parade.
The Bohnenviertel, the old Bean Quarter of narrow streets below the center, has been the gay hub since the 1980s. Bernstein, the Jakob-Stube, Lieblingsmensch and K29 in the Zieglerkeller sit within a few minutes of each other, and the quarter is small enough that the same faces recur across an evening.

The Heusteigviertel carries the second cluster. Weissenburg is the city's LGBTQIA+ center, turning thirty in 2026, and reBOOTS, the Eagle, Monroe's, Ruben's, Club 2B and the Utopia Kiosk are spread around it, with the Pour Lui and VIVA saunas further out.
Buchladen Erlkönig is the queer bookshop and has outlasted most of its German equivalents. Regenbogen Refugium works specifically with LGBTQ+ refugees, which in a wealthy industrial city with a large migrant population is less a niche concern than it sounds.
Stuttgart Pride takes July. The rest of the year the scene is small, tightly knit and easy to get to know quickly, and the city itself sits in a bowl ringed by vineyards, which is not what most people expect of the place that builds Mercedes and Porsche.
