Gay Guide to Toluca

The State of Mexico legalized same-sex marriage in 2022, and its capital, Toluca, a high-altitude colonial city just west of Mexico City, has by far the region's largest concentration of LGBTQ+ nightlife. The scene extends into the adjoining town of Metepec.

A cluster of gay bars and clubs runs through the center, several with drag shows, karaoke, and multi-floor dance nights.

Calli, the first LGBTQ+ community center in the Toluca valley, anchors the community's organizing and cultural work.

The State of Mexico's annual Pride march is held here, usually in August, drawing participants from across the state.
