About LGBTQ+ Puebla
Same-sex marriage has been legal across Mexico since 2022, and the state of Puebla recognized it in 2020. Puebla, a grand colonial city of 1.5 million between Mexico City and the Gulf coast, pairs baroque churches and celebrated cuisine with a lively, growing LGBTQ+ nightlife.
Most of the queer scene sits in the Centro Histórico, where gay bars, clubs, and cantinas, several with drag and late-night dancing, cluster among the historic streets.

Puebla Pride fills the streets each June, and the city has marked a local day against homophobia every May since 2017.
