About LGBTQ+ Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen has grown into one of the Riviera Maya's most gay-popular towns, with a walkable scene near Fifth Avenue and the beach. Bars and clubs cluster downtown, from The Lookout rooftop to dance floors at La Santanera, with Playa Mamitas as the gay-popular beach. The town hosts the Arena circuit festival each February, drawing an international crowd. More compact and walkable than nearby Cancún, Playa pairs Caribbean beaches with a European-feeling street life and a nightlife that runs late.
