About LGBTQ+ Cancún
By the end of 2022 same-sex couples could marry in every Mexican state, and Quintana Roo had been one of the first to allow it, in 2012. Cancún is the main gateway to the Riviera Maya, and its gay life is split between the beach and a downtown bar strip.
In the Hotel Zone, Playa Delfines, at kilometre 17.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán, is the unofficial gay beach: a public stretch with no hotels, free parking and its own bus stop, though the waves can be strong.

Downtown, the bars cluster along Avenida Tulum. 11:11 is the main gay club, with go-go boys, drag shows and dancing into the early hours, and Láser Hot Bar next door, the former Picante, is the city's oldest gay bar, with drag, strippers and cheap drinks.
