About LGBTQ+ Padua

Italy recognized same-sex civil unions in 2016, and Padua, an ancient city in the Veneto anchored by one of the world's oldest universities, is often called the region's most openly gay-friendly place. Its huge student population keeps the atmosphere young and relaxed.

There's no gay quarter as such; queer life clusters near the University of Padua and the historic center, with student-oriented bars drawing a mixed, international crowd.
