About LGBTQ+ Florence
Italy recognized same-sex civil unions in 2016, and while marriage is still not law, Florence and the wider region are broadly welcoming, especially across the tourist center. The Renaissance city keeps a modest but characterful gay scene woven into its historic streets.
Most of the bars cluster around Santa Croce and the lanes of the historic center, with a further pocket across the Arno in the artisan Oltrarno. Tabasco, opened in 1976 near Piazza della Signoria and long billed as Italy's oldest gay club, is the scene's enduring landmark, joined by a handful of cafe-bars and aperitivo spots.

The scale is intimate, which suits Florence: this is a city for slow evenings over wine between churches, galleries, and the river rather than big club nights.
Tuscany Pride rotates through the region and regularly brings a large parade to Florence in June, and the Florence Queer Festival adds a film and culture strand later in the year.
Gay cruising and dance club. About 15 km outside of Florence, but due to the convenient parking opportunities close to the club guys come here from the whole area between Florence and Pisa. Check the Fabrik website for the program and (un)dresscodes. Some Saturday nights with special parties such as Big Jim and Bear Troops.
