About LGBTQ+ Bologna

Bologna is Italy's activist gay capital, home to the Cassero LGBTQIA+ Center, one of Europe's oldest continuously running LGBTQ+ centers, which programs club nights from disco to techno through the week. Nightlife also runs at Red Club, home to the big Tunga queer party, alongside bars like Il Barattolo. Bologna Pride fills June, among Italy's most politically engaged, drawing tens of thousands. A university city famous for its food and arcaded streets, Bologna pairs a young, left-leaning character with a scene built around community and culture.

The LGBT center Cassero hosts various parties on some Saturdays and occasionally on other days. Worth a visit if only for the beautiful space in the large basement vault. Usually not busy before 01:00, but then often with a long queue to get in. The Cassero requires the Arcigay membership card which can be acquired at the entrance.

Gay sauna in the center of Bologna, partially renovated in 2024. Rather mature clientele. The ARCO and Arcigay cards are not accepted here. ID required and some knowledge of Italian. Admission: approx. 20 € + membership card

Arcigay is one of Italy's largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, supporting community programming, rights campaigns, and local initiatives in Bologna and nationwide.

The annual LGBTQ+ Pride event for Bologna and the wider Emilia-Romagna region. Bologna has a long tradition of progressive politics and LGBTQ+ visibility, and the city's Pride draws a regional crowd each summer.

An independent bookshop in Bologna's historic centre with a strong LGBTQ+ section. Libreria Igor stocks fiction, theory, and cultural titles and is a reference point for the city's queer community.

A non-profit LGBTI+ cultural and recreational association in Bologna, working to improve quality of life through legal, health, and cultural services.

Zona Roveri

Bologna's biggest and busiest gay club, in the Roveri industrial area, with a summer pool edition and the recurring Tunga party.
