About LGBTQ+ Ogunquit
Maine legalized same-sex marriage by popular vote in 2012, and Ogunquit, a picturesque village on the southern Maine coast, ranks among America's classic summer gay resorts alongside Provincetown and Fire Island. Its name means beautiful place by the sea, and it has been a queer haven for generations.
The whole town is the scene, strung between the beach, the Marginal Way cliff path, and the harbor at Perkins Cove. Ogunquit has more gay bars than anywhere else in Maine, led by Mainestreet, northern New England's largest gay nightclub, along with a piano bar and a cluster of gay-owned inns. The feel is lively but unpretentious, less commercial than its bigger resort cousins.

Ogunquit Pride takes over for a weekend each June, opening with a flag raising at Veterans Park and rolling into beach parties, shows, and gatherings across the village.
