Gay Guide to New Haven
Connecticut legalised same-sex marriage in 2008, one of the first states to do so. New Haven, the city anchored by Yale, has a small scene built around two long-running bars.
Partners on Crown Street, open since 1974, is Connecticut's longest-running gay bar, and 168 York Street Cafe, a gay-owned bar and restaurant in a brownstone near the Yale campus, hosts drag shows and dance parties.
The New Haven Pride Center, now at 50 Orange Street, paused operations in February 2026 over debts and reopened that June after a community fundraising drive raised $500,000.
New Haven Pride is an afternoon street festival downtown at Crown and Orange Streets in early October. New York is a short train ride away.
