Gay Guide to Margate

Margate has reinvented itself as a queer cultural hub on the East Kent coast, with its scene clustered along Northdown Road in Cliftonville. CAMP, opened in 2022, is a small, busy LGBTQ+ bar with a packed events calendar, and the Margate Arts Club runs drag nights and queer cabaret. Margate Pride has grown from a grassroots protest into a festival that takes over the town. Once a faded Victorian resort, the town now draws artists and weekenders down from London, and nearby Ramsgate and Broadstairs have started their own Prides. It is a small, creative scene with a seaside setting.
