About LGBTQ+ Lisbon
Lisbon's LGBTQ+ life centers on Principe Real, a hilltop neighborhood of bars, shops, and cafes that has become the city's gay heart, with additional nightlife in nearby Bairro Alto. The Portuguese capital is known for an open, relaxed atmosphere, mild weather, and a scene that mixes intimate bars with larger clubs. Lisbon Pride takes place in June. Affordable by Western European standards and increasingly popular with international visitors, Lisbon pairs its nightlife with viewpoints, tiled streets, and an easy, walkable center.
