About

Gay Guide to Leipzig

Leipzig has one of the most energetic queer scenes in the former East Germany, powered by a large student population and a steady stream of new bars and clubs. Venues spread across the city center and the western districts of Plagwitz and Lindenau rather than clustering on one strip. The Havana Club is the oldest gay bar in the city. Christopher Street Day runs each July, the oldest Pride in the former East, founded in 1992, with a march from Augustusplatz followed by a street festival. The walkable layout and reliable transit make it easy to move between neighborhoods in a single night.
