About LGBTQ+ Hannover
Hannover, the capital of Lower Saxony, runs a long-established queer scene anchored by Schwule Sau, an LGBTIQ+ bar and event space in the Nordstadt that has hosted parties, drag, and concerts since 1991. The city is also home to one of the oldest gay saunas in Germany. CSD Hannover traditionally opens Germany's Pride season on the Whitsun weekend and is one of northern Germany's largest, with the festival centered around Opernplatz near Kröpcke. The scene is spread across central venues and community spaces rather than one district, and the compact center keeps most of it within easy reach.
