About LGBTQ+ Hanoi
Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, has a small but lively gay scene tucked mostly into the historic Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake. GC Bar, known locally as Golden Cock, is the city's largest and longest-running gay bar, while R7 Bar near West Lake is the iconic heart of the scene with a lounge and drag shows. Savage draws a younger crowd for techno and house, and 1900 on Ta Hien is a popular late-night spot. Most venues sit within a short ride of one another. The scene is more relaxed and café-driven than Ho Chi Minh City's, fitting Hanoi's quieter character.
