Gay Guide to Grenoble
France decriminalized same-sex relations in 1791 and legalized marriage equality in 2013. Grenoble, a lively student and tech city ringed by the Alps, has a welcoming and surprisingly active LGBTQ+ scene for its size.
The Saint-Louis district holds much of the nightlife, with a cluster of gay and gay-friendly bars and clubs, including a long-running club institution and several festive late-night spots.
Beyond the bars, Grenoble runs a rich queer cultural calendar, including a Gay & Lesbian Film Festival each November and a Queer Arts Festival.
The city's annual Pride march caps a year-round program of LGBTQ+ events.
