Gay Guide to Campo Grande
Brazil legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, and Mato Grosso do Sul was among the first Brazilian states to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation, back in 1989. Its capital, Campo Grande, a relaxed gateway to the Pantanal, backs that history with an easygoing weekend nightlife.
There's no single gay district, but much of the queer nightlife runs along the broad Afonso Pena avenue, with the street-art-filled Santo Antônio area drawing a trendy crowd.
