About LGBTQ+ Curitiba
Brazil legalized same-sex marriage in 2013 and criminalized homophobia and transphobia in 2019. Curitiba, the orderly, green capital of Paraná in southern Brazil, has a smaller but friendly LGBTQ+ scene that many find cleaner, safer, and easier to navigate than Rio or São Paulo.
The nightlife concentrates in the Centro, around Praça Tiradentes and the cathedral, which holds the city's densest cluster of gay bars and clubs.

Long-running spots anchor the scene, from the main dance floors to the artsy Café do Teatro behind the Guaíra Theater, busiest on weekends.
Curitiba marks an annual Pride parade, part of a steady if low-key calendar of LGBTQ+ events.
