Gay Guide to Caen
France legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, and Caen, a Norman city largely rebuilt after the 1944 Battle of Normandy, keeps a small, low-key queer scene that leans more on community life than on nightlife. Its last dedicated gay nightclub closed in 2023.
What remains is intimate: a gay cruising bar, a gay-and-mixed sauna, and a scattering of gay-friendly cafes and bars in the center.
The Centre LGBTI de Normandie is the real anchor, organizing events, cultural programming, and the region's Pride.
For a bigger scene, nearby Rouen and the ferries to Britain put larger cities within easy reach.
