About LGBTQ+ Le Havre

France decriminalized same-sex relations in 1791 and legalized marriage equality in 2013. Le Havre, the bold, modern port city on the Normandy coast rebuilt after the Second World War, has a quiet, community-driven LGBTQ+ scene rather than a nightlife-heavy one.

The city has had no dedicated gay bar since 2018, so queer life here runs through associations, cultural events, film screenings, and inclusive alternative venues more than through a bar strip.
