Budapest's gay scene centers on District VII, the Erzsébetváros or Jewish Quarter, home to the city's famous ruin bars and a cluster of LGBTQ+ venues around Kazinczy Street and Madách Square. Spots like Szimpla Kert draw very mixed, queer-friendly crowds, with dedicated gay bars nearby. Budapest Pride takes place in June and remains one of Central Europe's most closely watched marches. The Hungarian capital pairs its thermal baths, Danube views, and grand architecture with one of the region's most distinctive nightlife zones.
