Gay Guide to Brighton
Brighton is Britain's unofficial LGBTQ+ capital, home to the highest share of LGBTQ+ residents of any UK city. The scene centers on Kemptown, the gay village around St James's Street, an easy bar-hop of pubs, drag venues, and cafes. Anchors include the three-floor club Revenge, the veteran Bulldog, open since 1979, and the musical-theatre bar Bar Broadway. Brighton Pride takes over the seafront in early August, marking 35 years in 2026, with a parade from Hove Lawns and a village street party along Marine Parade. The seaside setting keeps it busy through the summer.
