About LGBTQ+ Bali

Bali's gay scene is small but concentrated in Seminyak, along Jalan Camplung Tanduk, where a handful of bars run drag shows and go-go dancers from around 11pm to 3am. Bali Joe and Mixwell are the island's longtime anchors, with two men's saunas nearby. Indonesia does not recognize same-sex marriage and has no official Pride event, but Bali's tourist areas function as a relaxed, low-pressure space for LGBTQ+ visitors, distinct from the more conservative mainland. The island pairs its beach and temple culture with a compact, low-key gay nightlife that runs through the dry season from April to October.
