Teresina, the capital of Piauí in Brazil's northeast, has a modest gay scene, smaller than those in São Paulo or Rio but with a real local presence. LIGHTS Music & Bar is the city's main LGBTQIA+ venue, with pop, funk, and drag performances on weekend nights running late. Known as one of the hottest cities in Brazil, Teresina sits inland on the Parnaíba River, away from the coastal tourist circuit, so its nightlife is geared to locals rather than visitors.
