Gay Guide to Tampere
Finland opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2017. Tampere, the largest inland city in the Nordic countries, set between two lakes, has a compact and easygoing scene.
Mixei, in the Tammela district, has been open since 1990 and is the oldest gay bar still operating in Finland. It is the main spot for a night out, with a dance floor, karaoke and bingo.
Sinuiksi, the local LGBTQ+ association, runs support, groups and events from its community space on Näsilinnankatu, where the trans-femme association Transfeminiinit is also based.
Manse Pride fills a week in mid-June and ends with a Saturday parade from Keskustori along Hämeenkatu to a park party in Sorsapuisto.
