Gay Guide to Taipei
Taipei has one of Asia's most concentrated gay scenes, centered on the Red House in the Ximending district, a historic 1908 building now ringed by more than 20 bars, clubs, and community spaces. Rainbow flags, drag shows, and packed dance floors define the area. Taiwan Pride takes over the city in late October, the largest LGBTQ+ event in Asia, drawing tens of thousands. Taiwan was the first place in Asia to pass marriage equality, in 2019, and the capital pairs that openness with night markets, temples, and a welcoming, walkable center.
