Gay Guide to Rostock
Germany repealed the last of Paragraph 175 in 1994 and opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2017. Rostock, the largest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and an old Hanseatic port, has a small but steady queer scene and the state's biggest Pride.
bSieben on Burgwall in the city centre is a cosy bar for gays, lesbians and friends, open daily from the early evening, and planbar on Leonhardstraße in the Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt is a laid-back queer karaoke bar.
rat+tat, based at the same address as planbar, is Rostock's LGBTQ+ organisation, offering counselling, support and community.
CSD Rostock in mid-July closes the two-week HanseQueer Kulturwochen, which have run for more than 20 years, with a demonstration from the Neuer Markt and a harbour festival on the Haedgehalbinsel.
