Newcastle upon Tyne has one of the strongest LGBTQ+ scenes in northern England, concentrated in the Pink Triangle, the gay village around Westgate Road and Times Square between Central Station and the arena. Bars and clubs have run here since the 1970s, from drag and cabaret rooms like Rusty's and the Blonde Barrel to late-night clubs. Newcastle Pride is one of the region's largest, with a parade through the city center each July. The area is compact and walkable, and its mix of traditional pubs and high-energy clubs keeps it busy most nights of the week.
