About LGBTQ+ Milwaukee

Wisconsin made history in 1982 as the first US state to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation, and same-sex marriage arrived nationwide in 2015. Milwaukee, the state's largest city, carries that legacy in one of the Midwest's most concentrated gayborhoods.

The scene centers on Walker's Point, where the stretch of South 2nd Street known affectionately as the Fruit Loop packs eight or more gay bars into an easy walk. The mix runs from drag joints and mega-clubs to dive bars and quiet cocktail spots, and includes Walker's Pint, one of the last remaining lesbian bars in the country.
