About LGBTQ+ Manaus
Brazil legalized same-sex marriage in 2013 and criminalized homophobia and transphobia in 2019. Manaus, the sprawling capital of Amazonas deep in the rainforest and the main gateway to the Brazilian Amazon, has a modest but long-established LGBTQ+ scene.
A handful of nightclubs cater to the LGBTQ+ community, led by long-running institutions like TS Turbo, one of the city's oldest clubs, alongside newer venues and themed party nights.

Queer visibility has grown steadily across the Amazon region, and Manaus has held an annual Pride for well over a decade.
As the entry point for most Amazon travel, the city also makes a practical, welcoming base for LGBTQ+ visitors heading into the rainforest.
Multi-floor gay club in Centro, a Manaus favourite in the 2000s that held around 1,000 people, with drag shows, go-go dancers and several dance floors. It reopened in January 2025 after ten years closed.
