Gay Guide to La Paz
Bolivia's constitution bans discrimination based on sexual orientation, and same-sex civil unions have been recognized since 2020, though marriage is not and the country remains largely conservative. La Paz, the dramatic high-altitude seat of government, holds most of the nation's modest queer nightlife.
The scene centers on a small number of clubs, chief among them Centric Club, an openly gay venue that doubles as a community gathering place with regular themed nights.
Other mixed and gay-friendly clubs round out the weekends, alongside community events for the city's queer women.
Options are limited compared with larger South American capitals, but the welcome inside these spaces is warm.
