Gay Guide to Brasília

Brazil legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, and Brasília, the modernist planned capital laid out by Oscar Niemeyer, carries a smaller but genuine queer scene than the big coastal cities. Much of it runs through weekly gay nights that straight venues host to fill the gap.

The highest concentration of gay-friendly bars and clubs sits in Asa Sul, one half of the city's residential wings.

Festas da Lili, the Lili Parties, are among the country's biggest LGBTQ+ events and a reason in themselves to visit the modernist capital.

The Brasília Pride parade, typically in the second half of the year, rounds out a calendar that has grown steadily more visible.
