India decriminalized homosexuality in 2018, when the Supreme Court struck down the colonial-era Section 377, though same-sex marriage is not yet recognized. Bangalore, the country's tech capital in Karnataka, pairs a young, cosmopolitan population with one of India's more visible queer communities.
There is no gay district, but the city has long sustained safe spaces, from queer-friendly cafes and the regular gatherings in Cubbon Park to a network of support groups and events. The IT-driven, English-speaking culture gives the scene an open, activist edge, though nightlife tends to run on rotating parties rather than fixed venues.
