About LGBTQ+ Baguio

The Philippines does not criminalize same-sex relationships, and Filipino society blends Catholic tradition with genuine warmth toward LGBTQ+ people, though same-sex marriage remains unrecognized and national protections have stalled. Baguio, the mountain city known as the country's Summer Capital, adds a distinctly artsy, bohemian flavor and has moved to formally recognize LGBTQ+ rights at the local level.

The creative heart of the city runs along Session Road and its side streets, full of indie cafes, artist-run galleries, and thrift shops, with cultural spaces like the Ili-Likha Artists Village and welcoming spots such as Mt. Cloud Bookshop anchoring a queer-friendly community. University crowds and an active arts scene keep the atmosphere young and open, and Baguio holds Pride celebrations more than once a year.
