About LGBTQ+ The Hague

The Hague doesn't have one defined gay district, but its closest thing is Achterom, a small side street in the city center anchored by Café 't Achterom, a longtime gay bar known for disco nights and drag. Café de Vink, open for more than 80 years, is one of the oldest gay bars in the Netherlands, while the community center COC Café hosts regular meetups. The Hague sees Pride-related parties through the summer, with spillover from Amsterdam Pride in late July and August. The Netherlands was the first country to legalize same-sex marriage, in 2001, and The Hague pairs a quieter, more local scene with the country's seat of government and international courts.
