Gay Guide to San Juan

As a US territory, Puerto Rico has had same-sex marriage since 2015, and San Juan is widely considered the LGBTQ+ capital of the Hispanic Caribbean. Its warm, cosmopolitan culture and beaches draw queer travelers from across the Americas.

The upscale beachfront neighborhood of Condado, along Ashford Avenue between the lagoon and the Atlantic, anchors the scene with welcoming bars, hotels, and much of Pride.

Nearby Santurce, the city's arts district, has become its liveliest queer hub, with a cluster of bars and clubs around Calle Loíza amid murals, galleries, and a creative social scene.

San Juan Pride takes over the city each June, the biggest LGBTQ+ celebration in the Caribbean.
