Gay Guide to San Juan
As a US territory, Puerto Rico has had same-sex marriage since 2015. San Juan's warm, cosmopolitan culture and beaches draw queer travelers from across the Americas.
Most of the nightlife is in Santurce, the city's arts district. Toxic, a two-story late-night club on Calle Condado, and SX The Club on Avenida Ponce de León both do drag shows and go-go dancers, and Kweens Klub, open since 2021, runs a weekly drag show with celebrity guests.
On Avenida Fernández Juncos, El Local has weekly drag queens, drag kings and karaoke, and La Respuesta hosts DJs and queer party nights. El Purgatorio on Calle del Carmen, reopened in December 2023, is the bear bar.
Next door, the beachfront Condado neighborhood runs along Ashford Avenue between the lagoon and the Atlantic.
San Juan Pride, the Marcha del Orgullo, takes place each June.
