Gay Guide to Rehoboth Beach
Delaware legalised same-sex marriage in 2013, but Rehoboth's gay summers go back decades, with visitors from Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia filling the small beach town every season. In 1991 CAMP Rehoboth (Creating A More Positive Rehoboth) was founded to bridge the gap between the town's gay and straight communities, and it still runs the LGBTQ+ community centre on Baltimore Avenue.
The town is compact and walkable, and most of its gay life is on Baltimore Avenue. Blue Moon, the landmark bar, restaurant and dance club, has new owners who have pledged to keep it LGBTQ-affirming, and the deck at Aqua Grill, which turned 20 in 2026, is the town's gay meeting point. The Purple Parrot on Rehoboth Avenue serves burgers under bright murals, with regular live entertainment.
Out on Rehoboth Avenue Extension, Diego's is the dance bar, with drag shows and DJs and a new, partly enclosed patio. Poodle Beach, at the south end of the boardwalk, is the gay beach.
Rehoboth Beach Pride, organised by Sussex Pride in mid-July, builds to a Saturday festival at the convention center. The season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
