Gay Guide to Mendoza
Argentina was the first country in Latin America to legalize same-sex marriage, in 2010, and its 2012 Gender Identity Law is among the most progressive in the world. Mendoza, the country's wine capital at the foot of the Andes, offers a relaxed, smaller-scale gay scene built around its vineyards and easygoing social life.
The nightlife is modest but active, anchored by a handful of long-running gay bars and clubs, several hosting drag shows and dance parties on weekends. It is quieter than Buenos Aires, with a distinctive Argentine mix of wine, nature, and warmth.
Beyond nightlife, Mendoza has built a reputation as one of Argentina's most chosen LGBTQ+ destinations, thanks to gay-friendly wineries and tour operators across the surrounding wine country.
Mendoza's signature LGBTQ+ moment is the Gay Vendimia, held each March in the wake of the region's famous Vendimia grape-harvest festival, and the city marks a Diversidad (Diversity) month each November with film, art, and community events.
