Lavender Atlas Is Live
We built the gay travel directory we always wanted. Hand-verified, free to browse, and made for the way queer people actually travel. Here's what's inside.
We’re live. Lavender Atlas is the gay travel directory we always wanted and could never quite find: a map of the bars, hotels, saunas, cafes, and landmarks that make a city worth the trip, checked by hand and free to browse.
This is a soft launch. The map is real, the listings are real, and there’s plenty still to add. Here’s what you’ll find today, and where we’re headed.
Why we built it
Queer travel intel is scattered. It lives in group chats, in a friend-of-a-friend’s recommendation, in a forum thread from 2014. You land somewhere new and spend the first night working out where it’s safe to hold hands and where the good rooms are.
We wanted one place that just tells you. No login wall, no influencer noise, no listicle padding. Just the name, the neighborhood, the hours, and an honest line about what a place is actually like.
What’s inside
The directory is organized by city, and each city by category: bars, clubs, hotels, saunas, cafes, restaurants, and the landmarks worth knowing. Start with a few we know well:
- Berlin, from the Schöneberg old guard to the Neukölln clubs
- Amsterdam, small enough to walk and queer to its core
- Madrid, Barcelona, and Sitges for the Spanish summer
Every listing is verified before it goes live, and we say so when something has closed or moved. If a detail looks off, you can flag it in a click.
How to use it
Browse a city, save the places you want to remember, and build a shortlist before you go. Heading somewhere we haven’t mapped yet? That’s the honest state of a soft launch, and more cities are landing every week.
Help us fill in the map
This works best as a shared effort. If you know a place that belongs here, whether it’s a bar that’s been the heart of a neighborhood for thirty years or a new spot worth the detour, add it to the directory. We check every submission ourselves.
And if you’d rather we come to you, the newsletter sends new cities, hidden gems, and queer travel info every week. It’s free.
