New Mexico gained marriage equality in 2013, and Santa Fe, the high-desert arts colony and one of the oldest cities in the United States, keeps a small, sophisticated queer scene that matches its creative character.
There is no gayborhood and, these days, no exclusively gay bar; instead the community gathers through mixed, welcoming spaces around the historic Plaza, the galleries of Canyon Road, and the Railyard District.
