Gay Guide to Dublin
Dublin's gay scene has shifted over the past decade toward Capel Street on the north side of the Liffey, now the city's main gay district, while the south side keeps older landmarks near the village. The George on South Great George's Street is the oldest and largest gay bar, open since 1985, with Pantibar, run by drag activist Panti Bliss, on Capel Street and Street 66 nearby. Dublin Pride takes place in late June. Ireland passed marriage equality by popular vote in 2015, and the city pairs a friendly pub culture with a compact, walkable scene.
