About LGBTQ+ Bergen
Norway opened marriage to same-sex couples in 2009 and consistently ranks among the most LGBTQ+-friendly countries in the world. Bergen, the fjord-side gateway to Norway's western coast, keeps a small, relaxed queer scene in one of Europe's most beautiful settings.
There is barely a separate scene to speak of, and that is the point: queer people here mix freely across the city's bars and clubs, with Fincken, Bergen's first and longest-running gay bar, serving as the one dedicated hub. The openness reflects a country where acceptance is largely taken for granted.
